All cats in the American system of judging are divided into two groups to the length of hair:

Show classes for Household Pets - only neutered household cats from the age of 6 months
The set of points in the finals depends on the license of a ring and of the catcount competing in it.
The number of places in the final depends on amount of cats presented in a concrete class.

RINGS
ALL BREED (AB) | ring on which in each of classes (kittens, adult cats, neuters and household pets) cats of all recognized in AFC breeds and colors compete |
LH SPECIAL (LH-SP) | ring on which in each of classes (kittens, adult cats, neuters and household pets) cats of all recognized in AFC breeds and colors compete (only for LONGHAIR breeds) |
SH SPECIAL (SH-SP) | ring on which in each of classes (kittens, adult cats, neuters and household pets) cats of all recognized in AFC breeds and colors compete (only for SHORTHAIR breeds) |
BREED (BR) | ring on which in each of classes (kittens, adult cats, neuters ) cats of all recognized in AFC breeds and colors compete ( only in one breed ( for example: SPH) or in group of breeds ( for example: BRI-BRL) |
CONGRESS (CON) | ring on which in everyone (or one) of classes (kittens, adult cats, neuters) cats only of the recognized in AFC breeds and colors united by a certain thematic principle (group of colors, group of breeds, sex, and other...) compete |

The number of places in the final depends on amount of cats presented in a concrete class.
- 1 cat – only one THE BEST gets out (Best Neuter/ Best Pet)
- 2-5 cats – only THE BEST and THE 2-nd BEST gets out (Best Cat; 2-nd Best Cat/ Best Kitten; 2-nd Best Kitten/ Best Neuter;2-nd Best Neuter/ Best Pet;2-nd Best Pet)
- 6-10 cats – five BEST gets out (TOP5 Cat/ TOP5 Kitten/ TOP5 Neuter/ TOP5 Pet)
- 11 and more cats – ten BEST gets out (TOP10 Cat/ TOP10 Kitten/ TOP10 Neuter/ TOP10 Pet)
- If the ring is licensed as ALL BREED (AB ring), the cat who took the last place in the final gets 10 points, following cat gets this points and 10 points more, ... (see the table below)
- If the ring is licensed as ALL BREEDSPECIAL(AB-SP),LH SPECIAL (LH-SP), SH SPECIAL (SH-SP), BREED (BR) или CONGRESS (CON), the cat who took the last place in the final gets 5 points, following cat gets this points and 5 points more, ... (see the table below)
